The desert date palm, also known as balanites or Sump in Wolof (Senegal), is a thorny tree 8m to 9m high. Its fruit is a drupe (a fleshy fruit with a pit) of 3 to 4 cm which is called the desert date.
The fruits contain a pit that encloses an almond rich in oil.
The desert date palm is widespread in the Sahel, Egypt, Sudan, Arabia, and Asia.

This oil has important virtues:
